“Your privacy is very important to us. Accordingly, we have developed this policy in order for you to understand how we collect, use, and disclose personal information.”

“Pairvote.ca collects and uses personal information to support individual voters to swap their vote with others in a better position to elect their preferred party, or to prevent a specific party from getting elected. Subject to what is described below, your personal information, and especially your preferred party, will only be communicated to your swapping partner and to certain limited individuals within Pairvote.ca for the purpose of swapping the vote.”

“Pairvote may use the personal information to identify supporters sympathetic to a multi-party coalition, promote electoral involvement by persons whose votes do not otherwise count, encourage youth and immigrants to vote, and other compatible basic democracy goals its users from time to time identify. Pairvote.ca is not affiliated with any party though campaigns that employ its facilities will necessarily employ cause-specific and party-specific messaging.”

“Pairvote.ca is not affiliated with any party. We attempt to review all such messages but cannot guarantee to pre-vet every such message. We will take complaints seriously and modify this policy as required to do so.”

“Your data will be held in a private repository based in Ontario. It is maintained by data management professionals familiar with privacy-sensitive applications. It will not be shared with third parties, unless they have explicitly committed to obey Canadian privacy law and their use is limited to the purposes stated above that the voter approves and identifies. Other uses shall be publicly debated and all users invited to oppose that use in advance. You will be given the opportunity to delete your personal information if you do not agree to such use. Complaints about message content will be handled without contacting the message’s originator nor compromising your privacy in any way whatsoever.”

“If you do not identify any cause or motive or purpose other than electing an MP from a particular party, or defeating a particular party, or promoting electoral reform, then no other cause’s promoter will contact you directly using our data at any time. If you identify a cause, you will be offered opportunity no more often than once a year to opt into receiving an offer to join or support that cause. The cause’s promoters will not receive your email address but will contact you through pairvote.ca facilities only.”

“If you wish your personal information to be used only for this federal election and no other purpose, or for federal elections only, for instance you do not wish to be contacted regarding even an upcoming provincial election, then you have the option to opt out of inclusion from such projects and will not be bothered further. If you specify a one-only use of your data, it will be removed from all persistent archives and retained only in archives of the single election for which you volunteered it, for purposes of auditing and improving the system. Such archival and auditing data is not available for any cause or any purpose whatsoever.”
